But not every trip leaves behind such profound emotions.<br \/>\nEuropean pilgrimages often begin much like any other journey: carefully packed suitcases, farewell hugs with family at the airport, and a mix of excitement and nervousness before the long flight.<br \/>\nBut once the journey actually begins, many quickly realize that this trip is unlike any they&#039;ve ever taken before. The vast square is surrounded by rows of curved colonnades, like the outstretched arms of the Church. At its center stands St. Peter&#039;s Basilica \u2013 one of the greatest churches in the world.<br \/>\nBut what moved many people wasn&#039;t just the beauty of the architecture. This gentle light spread throughout the space, and in that silence, thousands of people prayed the Rosary together.<br \/>\nThere was no noise. No boisterous sounds. Just the sound of hymns, prayers, and the flickering candlelight in the night.<br \/>\nMany in the pilgrimage group often say that the moment makes them feel as if time slows down, and all the worries of life seem to vanish.<br \/>\n<strong>Lourdes \u2013 a place of hope<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring a pilgrimage through Europe, Lourdes is often the most emotionally evocative stop.<br \/>\nThe Massabielle Grotto \u2013 where the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette \u2013 is always a place of quiet prayer for those who come to pray.<br \/>\nMany people stand for a long time in front of the grotto. Not to seek a miracle, but to spend a few minutes reflecting and praying.<br \/>\nThe atmosphere at Lourdes possesses a very special kind of peace. But many feel that the journey helped them look at life from a different perspective.<br \/>\n<strong>A journey \u2013 but a journey of faith.<\/strong><br \/>\nA European pilgrimage is not just a journey through the world&#039;s beautiful cities.
