This journey combines sacred sites with UNESCO-recognized cultural beauty, guiding pilgrims through days of prayer and contemplation.

### Days 2–3: Arrive in Rome – attend the audience with the Holy Father

After arriving in Rome and resting, the following day the pilgrims gathered for the Pope's General Audience in St. Peter's Square. Listening to the address of the Successor of St. Peter and receiving the Apostolic Blessing was a great honor. Following the audience, we visited St. Peter's Basilica – the heart of the Church – to attend Mass and venerate the tombs of St. Peter and the Popes. In the afternoon, we spent time in prayer and touring the Vatican grounds.

Day 4: The Grand Palaces and Stories of Saint Francis

The following day, the group visited two ancient basilicas of Rome: St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran. These ancient shrines contain many sacred relics: the manger of Jesus, the papal throne. Afterwards, we continued our journey through the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona – the magnificent squares of Rome. Throughout the day, the guide recounted the story of young St. Francis's arrival in Rome to seek approval from Pope Innocent III for his new order, an event that gave birth to the Franciscan Order. This history helps us better understand the spirit of poverty and service of the saint.

### Day 5: Assisi – a UNESCO-recognized city of peace

On Thursday, the group left Rome for Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. This is not only a famous pilgrimage site but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Assisi is a medieval city on a hillside, the birthplace of Saint Francis and closely associated with the Franciscan Order. Masterpieces such as the Basilica of Saint Francis and the frescoes of Cimabue, Lorenzetti, Martini, and Giotto have made Assisi a fundamental point of reference for European art and architecture. UNESCO recognizes Assisi based on several criteria: it is a prime example of a hill town and Umbrian cultural landscape that has been continuously preserved since antiquity; it is a repository of great artistic treasures and conveys the message of peace and tolerance of the Franciscan Order.

In Assisi, we attended Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis, visited the saint's tomb, and admired the famous frescoes. We then proceeded to the Church of San Rufino – where St. Francis and St. Clare were baptized – and then to the Basilica of St. Clare to pray before the relics of the Saint. In the afternoon, the group ascended the Carceri Hermitage hill, where St. Francis lived in seclusion, for moments of reflection and to take in the Umbrian valley.

### Day 6: The Heritage of Early Christianity

Returning to Rome, we visit the Roman Forum and the Colosseum to learn about the lives of the early martyrs. Next, we visit the Church of St. Peter in Vincoli (St. Peter in Chains) and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, where the tomb of St. Paul the Apostle is located. We also delve into the Catacombs of Calixtus to remember the first Christians who lived their faith amidst persecution. These moments allow us to experience the courage and unwavering faith of the martyrs.

### End of journey

After seven days, the group concludes their journey with hearts filled with grace. You will return not only with commemorative photos but also with a spiritual experience: having listened to the Word of God in the places where he lived, having felt the spirit of poverty and peace of Saint Francis, and having witnessed the richness of the Church's heritage. May Saints Peter, Paul, Francis, and Clare accompany you on every step of your journey!
